When the student has finished a task like you show in the pichers or something like this, how do they analyse what they have done? Result? Process? How do they document that analyse?
ReplyDeleteYou seem to have very focus of security in your programme. Is this usual in the industry too, or is it mostly in school?
ReplyDeleteIt's good to put safety so high. In what other way do you embedd safety and health?
ReplyDeleteHi Hanna. Students are assessed against quality control criteria, for example seam allowance must be 1cm, machine tension must be correct, colour thread must match the fabric, students either self assess or assess each others work before they hand it in. All work is documented on the specification sheets
ReplyDeleteHi Marita. We are stricter than industry, we have to follow the curriculum which is quite specific.
ReplyDeleteHi Emma. Pinning is another one. Such a simple everyday tool for fashion designers, but we have had a few students end up in hospital after they have swallowed a pin. Students are required to sign that they won't put pins in their mouths, they must pin with the sharp end into the fabric so the sharp end of the pin is not protruding, pins are not to be disposed of in the bins because they are considered sharps, we provide special tins for sharps to be place when they are blunt or broken. It is best if the students learn to machine without pins
