  1. What is the most common job for your students when they have finished the program, and do all of them end up within the textile industry?

    1. There is not one common job, graduates work in ,design, pattern making, or production, if they choose to stay in the industry. Many start their own business. Other graduates make careers for themselves in retail or secondary teaching. Some graduates continue studying in bachelor or master degree program's at university. Not all students work in the industry, industry jobs are scarce here, Canberra is a government city, so some students take on government jobs.

  2. In Sweden the textile and clothing industry nearly disappeared in the late 70´s and during the 80´s. All industrial production was in Asia. How is the production in Australia? Are there some areas with more textile or clothing production?

  3. We had quite a strong industry in the 70s & 80s with government protection/tariffs. The tariffs have been reduced so most production is now off shore in countries like China. Our industry has reduced by a two thirds. Most textile and clothing production is off shore, design is still managed in Australia.
