If you look closly you can see teachers and students at the podium analysing the result. Well at home in classroom again the process is analysed and the students aids to verbalice what they have learned.
Here we have another vocational task. The students got a real customer. The tasks that are outside ordenary schoolarea are special and complex in many ways. But it is worth the hard work when it generates motivated and entusiastic 18-yearolds.
One more thing...vocational tasks are special in that way that we can integrate a lot of subjects in one task. For example entrepreneurship, co-operation, math, swedish and sometimes english. Students learn how to work in forms of project, more like the workingenvirement in the "real world". From my experience we have more "accidentally -learning" in vocational tasks than in school tasks.
Very nice arregements! I agrre: it´s hard work but defenetly worth it! We are soon going to have a small show of wedding bouquets at the museum here in Jönköping. The students are now planing how it´s going to be, they are very nervous and troubled but I also know that they are looking forward to it. I can show you the reults later.
I really think we should continue with this blog in some form. Putting up more pitchers and coments. It´s hard but very interesting to wright in englich. Thank you Steve Jobs for the tecnical revolution, so we now can have englich apps in our phones.
About this kined of vocational task. I think it´s more plainly to get the teens to "problematisera" (i can´t fined the englich word-help me someone i like to lern) when they have a practic coupling from the "real world" directlly. But as a teacher we have to fokus on ballans in the students education. So many want to involve florists in projects to get chep flowers and thats like putting a red blanket in front of a bull, that makes me very mad. It´s our job to see that the students progres in there vocation and if a project like this are appropriate in a cours we can axept the proposell.
When i read what i just wrighted i reflected that if we have to many of this kind of tast that lead to direct cretic, it´s a risk to lean towards behavioristic pedagogic. So just the right amont to make students understand there future vocation.
Do you often make this arrangements outside school?
ReplyDeleteWe try to have something outside school ones a semester (ones 6month) or ones a year. Not often i think.
