Some of the
lovely cut flowers! We try to have different kind every week. The students also
have to learn the names of the flowers, both the Swedish name and the Latin
name.
Could you briefly give an exempel how you teach latinnames and the fact around this subject. Cutflowers and potplants? Do you use some kined of tecnical instrument like short film, fotos, links? Does the students research themselvs?
Hi Hanna! The latinnames is a hard subjekt for the students. Some of them are realy good at it and think it´s funny and some of them hardly know one latinnaame. I show the students a picture of the flower in power point, we talk about the namnes of the flower. The students has one list of potflower about 150 st and one list of cut flowers abot 100. In one period we work with just cutflowers and one period we work with potflowers. We take 10 every week, the students have 10 namnes the must learn every week. That is a very briefly explanation...../Anna
Thank you! As all teachers connected to floristeducation know this is a hard subject for the students and i think we all could develop better ways to educate flower and plantattention. I wonder if we could integrate this subject more and in another way in the workingplaced learning. More like a researchtask? What do you think?
Hi Hanna! Yes I think that the students can learn a lot form/in the workingplaced learning when it comes to the name of the flowers. A researchtask is a good idea. If we can involve the supervisor to help and guide the student it could be realy good I think. Made do a list of some or all of the potflowers in the flowshop, the names and care instructions.
Way not in bloggform? The students can take a pitcher, wright namn (Swedich and scientific name) and how if likes to bee cared. Mite bee a bit more interesting and fun part of the education.
How many students do you have in a class?
ReplyDeleteWe have very small classes. so in the fist year they are 4, second year 7 and third year 7.

ReplyDeleteIt´s sounds like it might be quite expansive, buying all the different kinds of flowers, do the school get sponsored or how do you finance it?
